Average Maine Coon Weights

There is no definitive answer on how much a Maine Coon cat should weigh, as there can be variations depending on the individual cat's build and body type. However, on average, a healthy Maine Coon cat should weigh between 9 and 18 pounds. So, if you're wondering if your Maine Coon is at a healthy weight, you can use this range as a general guide.

The average weight of a male Maine Coon is 15-25 pounds. Some Maine Coon cats can weigh up to 30 pounds or more. Maine Coons are not considered obese if they fall within the average weight range.

On the other hand, a female Maine Coon can weigh about 15 pounds on average.

With weights this large, you may be worried about obesity for your Maine Coon. Obese Maine Coons are not only at risk for health problems associated with obesity in general but also for a condition called feline dysautonomia, which can be fatal. Obesity can also lead to diabetes, arthritis, and other health problems.

A healthy diet and plenty of exercise prevent a Maine Coon cat from becoming obese.

Average Maine Coon Lengths

Maine Coon cats can also grow to incredible lengths – some even average out to be as tall as a 5-year-old child!

Male Maine Coon cats can top out at over 4 feet tall. Female Maine Coon cats range in length from 10 to 16 inches, with the longest cats measuring up to 20 inches from nose to tail.

Maine Coon cats are also known for their large, fluffy tails, which can add another 6 to 16 inches to their overall length.

On the whole, a Maine Coon cat is one of the largest cat breeds on the planet.

Conclusion

Despite their sizes, Maine Coon cats are also known for their personalities. These are not intimidating cats by any stretch of the imagination. If anything, a Maine Coon cat can be as loving as your standard domestic short hair. On top of that, Maine Coons have an incredible life span of 12 to 15 years!

So, if you are looking for a big, cuddly kitty, a Maine Coon may be the right fit for you. Just be prepared to have a lot of space for your new furry friend to roam!
